Overview of South India Tour

The South India Tour is a unique tour associating all the south Indian tourist attractions. It connects beautiful cities of Chennai, Mahabalipuram, Pondicherry, Thanjavur, Trichy, Madurai, Kanyakumari and Kovalam with a span of 10 nights and 11 days.

You will be received by our staff at the Chennai Airport on the first day. You will be taken for sightseeing Chennai's St. Thomas' Cathedral, the Bronze Museum and Mylapore Temple. We drive towards Pondicherry on the third day via Mahabalipuram. We will be visiting Raj Nivas, Botanical Gardens, Chunnambar boat house & Museum in Pondicherry on the fourth day. We will drive to visit Thanjavur which is renowned for Brahadishwara Temple and The Saraswathi Mahal Library. The seventh day embarks a journey to Madurai visiting Trichy on the way.

You will be experiencing Minakshi Temple and Tirumalai Nayaka Palace in Madurai. On the eighth day, we drib=ve towards Kovalam via Kanyakumari. On the ninth and tenth day of the tour, we will be relaxing on the Beach of Kovalam. On the last day, you will be transferred to Trivandrum airport to board your respective flight.

South India Tour Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Arrive Chennai

    On your arrival at Chennai airport or railway station & welcome by Colourful Indian Holidays representative, you will be transferred to hotel for 01 night. Chennai – the capital of Tamil Nadu is the 4th largest city in India and a major commercial centre in South India. This city was the first British major settlement in India. Known as the ‘Gateway to South’, Chennai presents culture that is distinctly different from North.
  2. Day 02: Chennai
    After breakfast Tour of Chennai visit the St. Thomas’ Cathedral which houses the grave of St. Thomas the Apostle, the Bronze Museum & Mylapore Temple. Overnight at hotel.
  3. Day 3: Chennai – Pondicherry drive (165 Km) en route Mahabalipuram

    Morning breakfast at hotel and drive to Pondicherry, en route visit Mahabalipuram – ‘the city of the seven pagodas’. Witness the breath-taking display of the pagodas or “rathas”, the “Penance of Bhagirata,” the world’s largest bas-relief in stone and the only shore temple, dedicated to both Vishnu and Shiva in its sanctum. Later continue drive to Pondicherry, check into hotel for 01 night stay. Rest of the day free on own and overnight at hotel.
  4. Day 04: Pondicherry

    Breakfast and later sightseeing of Pondicherry visit Raj Nivas, the former palace of Dupleix now the residence of Pudhucherry’s Lieutenant Governor, Botanical Gardens, Chunnambar boat house & Museum and rest of the day leisure at beachside. Evening can enjoy Heritage walks cover French and Tamil sectors and the Aurobindo ashram. Overnight at hotel.
  5. Day 05: Pondicherry – Thanjavur drive (180 Km)

    pAfter breakfast drive to Thanjavur, upon arrival check into hotel for 01 night stay. Afternoon visit the Brahadishwara Temple (Brahadeeswara temple) built by Rajaraja Chola during the 11th century. The Brahadishwara Temple, also known as the Big Temple, is one of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Saraswathi Mahal Library, which contains over 30,000 Indian and European manuscripts written on palm leaf and paper. And The Palace was built partly by the Nayaks of Vijayanagar in 1550 AD, and partly by the Marathas. Overnight at hotel.
  6. Day 06: Thanjavur / Madurai drive (188 km) via Trichy

    Morning drive to Madurai on route visiting Trichy, Here you will climb up the stairs to the famous Rock Fort which was built on 84 m high rock in the centre of town in about 1660. You will also visit a Shiva and Ganesha temple and enjoy a wonderful view of the surroundings from the top. After visiting continue drive to Madurai, upon arrival check in at hotel for 01 night stay. Overnight at hotel.
  7. Day 07: Madurai

    Morning after breakfast visit to Minakshi Temple: which stands today as one of the India’s greatest cultural and architectural landmarks, was originally built by the early Pandya King Kulasekara. It is also one of the greatest Shiva Temples of Tamil Nadu. And Tirumalai Nayaka Palace. This palace was built in the 1636 and represents the Indo-Mughal style. Rest of the day free on own. Overnight at hotel.
  8. Day 08: Madurai – Kovalam drive (265 Km) via Kanyakumari

    Breakfast at hotel and later drive to Kovalam, en route Kanyakumari visit Kumari Amman Temple, Thiruvalluvar Statue, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial & Vivekananda Rock Memorial. Later continue drive to Kovalam, check into hotel for 03 nights stay. Overnight at hotel.
  9. Day 09: Kovalam

    Day is free on own to relax and enjoy the Beach of Kovalam.
  10. Day10: Kovalam

    Day is free on own to relax and enjoy the Beach of Kovalam.
  11. Day 11: Kovalam – Trivandrum & flight to onward journey

    Today after breakfast you will be transferred to Trivandrum airport for your onward journey.
